I am shocked to hear the bad reviews on the product. This pump is the most durable, long-lasting livewell pump Ive been able to find. As a full time professional guide, I use these pumps over 120 charter days per year and they are literally bullet proof. All the other pumps can in no way handle the abuse i throw at them. We all know that pumps, in saltwater, have a limited life - just the way it goes. It may be big and fairly loud but they last, for me, usually 2-3yrs. That's as good as it gets.

We were looking for alternative to the cartridge pumps. Tried this one.
Its terribly loud from the start.. We re installed.. Still loud.
We will be looking for alternative once this one dies..

Sorry, but this pump does't last very long. The first one most of one season, the second only three trips, warranty replaced it , it's been lnstalled . We'll see what happens next . On the positive side if pumps lots of water .

Best pump for the money first one lasted 10 years before failing replacement pump is still running strong after 5 years of use. Voltage is key do not run pump under 12volts pump will work harder with less out put. We run the live well for. 2-3 days yes days at a time from June through September and never experienced a failure. After 10 years of use and abuse mine finally went (bearing wore out). Second one is 5yrs old and not one problem.

These pumps work very well and I give them lots of use but they seem to be prone to failure just as warranty expires or just after. My suggestion is buy the Westmarine warranty and be assured of coverage should it fail

They should just stop making this item. I have two on my boat. Both started making a loud noise after about 6-8 months then stopped working.
Replaced them twice at no charge thanks to West Marine. I'm just tired of changing them every year. Those who did not have any trouble had to be a fluke or a lucky or improbable occurrence, with the implication that the occurrence could not be repeated.
