I had read about this product in several publications by writers I trust like Ed Sherman and Steve D'Antonio. Bought it for my boat and found out what all the hoopla was about. So much easier to use and finally no sealing ring. I also tried to attach two cords to extend my length and had read the other reviews. So I called Marinco, they walked me through it, bought the right size collar and ring to do it and presto - it was a breeze.

You cannot put a locking ring on this cable. It won't fit! I worked on it for two hours and failed. Probably ruined the cable in the process. Doesn't it seem odd that a cable marketed for solid connections does not have a ring included? Or already installed? I guess it is just another way to charge for additional parts. I would not buy another and would not recommend to a friend.

I use this cord to connect 30 amp shore power service to my 33 foot sailboat. Marinco produces a very safe product and the new connectors are easier to fasten than the old ones. I particularly like the blue indicator light that tells you that the unit is live. This cord is an excellent solution for safe use of 30 amp service on your watercraft and an outstanding upgrade from the traditional product.

I purchased both a new shore power cord and "Y" adapter. I was a bit skeptical with the new EEL connectors, but after messing with them for a few days they appear to be a solid new direction. My cords and adapter are all 125v/30amp.

At first the female boat end of the power cord would not lock in a weather resistant manner to the male end of the "Y" adapter. I put a call into Marinco and determined they have some branding issues with the required components. Here is what you need and then it works like a charm - cord to cord or cord to adapter etc.

You need two additional parts:
Marinco Sealing Collar with Ring 30A PN #110R (WM #154922)
Marinco Sealing Ring - 50A PN #500R (WM #209215)

IGNORE THE POWER RATINGS ON THESE TWO PARTS, they are not marked or branded properly, they fit fine.

Do not use the ring in the #110R kit, instead, place the 50A #500R ring over the male end of the "Y" adapter, then screw the double male sleeve into the 50A #500R ring you just put on. The female EEL end of the power cord will join together and lock in place as expected. You can also use this to connect two cords together etc.

Marinco said they are working on new packaging / branding to fix the confusion.

The cords work great and should keep a nice solid connection, they do not "appear" to be "gimmicky" at all.

Let me first say, if you can use the standard length, this cord will work. I need at least 60 feet to connect my boat to shore power. There is no way to hook two of these cords together to get the needed length. The old connecting rings and collars will not fit on the new cords, so there is no way to make a water resistant seal between the cords, and with the slightest jar, the two cords will come apart. When you add the fact that the old power adaptors won't work either (I have a 50 amp service with a 30 amp connection on the boat), these cords are just not worth the money.
