Comments about Tahiti Waterproof 7 x 50 Center Focus Binoculars:
Compass does not work in southern hemisphere. I discovered this phenomenon known as compass card dip, after moving from California to New Zealand. Ironic that they are named after South Seas Islands!
West Marine should put this caveat on this product.
Otherwise quite good binoculars and very good value for money.
West Marine refunded my money, and now I'm saving for Steiners, which will work worldwide.

Comments about Tahiti Waterproof 7 x 50 Center Focus Binoculars:
I have had these for over 5 years, and never had a problem with them. The binoculars come with a storage bag, and lens cloth.
These are great for determining a fix while navigating"the old fashioned way." Also good for seeing bouys at night.
My only complaint is the lens covers which, while equipped with lanyards, easily detach from the body of the binoculars. I have lost them several times, but always managed to find them after looking. I now simply remove the lens covers, and stow them in the bag when the binoculars are in the cockpit.
Comments about Tahiti Waterproof 7 x 50 Center Focus Binoculars:
VERY good optics for the price. Compared head to head with Stiener and while clarity was not quite as good, overall value for the money was exceptional. Used recently on a hunting trip and my friend picked them up. He had never used a high quality binocular before and was blown away. We were scoping at night under a partial moon and could see very well. Highly recommend.
Comments about Tahiti Waterproof 7 x 50 Center Focus Binoculars:
I also had those little black "spots" but l did not notice them at first...two years later l mentioned it to the staff at West and they asked me to bring them back..l did and was given a new pair!!
Comments about Tahiti Waterproof 7 x 50 Center Focus Binoculars:
Waterproof seal must have failed since the internal surface of both lens are covered in small dark spots. Most noticeable when looking at the sky or other light backgrounds.
