Generally one blows speakers when they have too LITTLE power, not too much. When using a low powered amplifier, one tends to drive it to distortion. It is the distortion that blows the speakers. A higher powered, quality amplifier will sound better and have less chance of damaging speakers. This goes for your home system as well.

I"ve had these speakers for a few months and I'm on my 3rd pair. My amp is way under the recommended watts yet these speakers are blowing ever trip. I purchased the replacement plan, but at this rate West Marine will go our of business. Spend the extra money and get JL Audio.

These produce a surpising amount of base for their size driven only by a clarion head unit. The mids and highs are nice and clear. The grills are well made and low key in design. The covers do stick out from the mounting surface at least an inch max, which might get in the way in tight quarters.

I have not had them installed that long, but I have been out twice now and I am pleased with the sound. I heard notes I had never heard before on the previous speakers. I did not check "waterproof" or "weather resistant" because I have not had them that long, hence the 4 stars instead of 5.

I made a Ice chest cooler radio with (2) of these's speakers mounted. Let me tell you it was getting so much attention when i was floating down the river and people could hear me coming.

Great sound for the money. Bought them as a gift for my parents boat. I also bought a set of Alpine marine speakers for $99 and hooked 1 of each up. I was surprised to find the West Marine(got them on sale for [$]) sounded much better.Only complaint is the grills were difficult to install, bad design, they could easily make a grill that installs easier. I never did get 1 to go on all the way, but you cant tell.I will probably purchase a 2nd set for their boat in the near future.

Picked these up on sale and installed them with a Fusion Ms-RA200 Marine stereo. I have a small boat - 17'6" modified flats and it can get a little wet when the wind blows. I can't speak of the durability since I have only had them one day but the sound is really good. Nice bass. I installed then in my small center console and it was straight foward. The Fusion radio is awesome!
