High-powered scanning radar in a small, light package
Don't be fooled by this scanner's small 18" dia. size. It packs a heap of features like high-definition targeting, a stunning 4kW of power and plug-and-play connectivity into its lightweight, compact dome an ideal choice for small power boats and sailboat owners who want a high-powered scanner in a smaller, lighter package. The GMR 18 features a 5.2° horizontal beamwidth and a 25° vertical beamwidth for the clearest target definition in all weather conditions. Similar to the larger GMR 21 and 41 radomes, radar processing takes place in the radome via a digital signal processor, which then places the data on the Garmin Marine Network bus so any chartplotter on the network can display and control the radar. Digital processing also allows for more precise recognition, enhancement, and filtering of radar echoes making the finished display easier to read and interpret. Overlay radar images onto your moving map chartplotter display, or show overlay and standard radar simultaneously on a split screen. MARPA capability for tracking bearing, course, speed and predicted closest approach of up to 10 targets. MARPA functionality requires an MFD and an optional heading sensor.
