Roughly the same strength as proof coil chain of the same size. To prevent accidental opening, always seize the shackle pin with safety wire. For increased strength, use one size larger than the chain, especially with High-Test chain (the pins will still fit).

Comments about Galvanized Steel Screw Pin Anchor Shackles:
I was in a hurry and needed gear for my mooring so I ran to my local west marine and grabbed some shackles in the mooring supply isle.I was very disappointed when I got to my mooring and pulled them from the bag to see [*] on them. Stupid me for not looking at the store, I just assumed they would be made in the USA as required by most harbor masters.Wish they stocked Chicago brand or equivalent.

Comments about Galvanized Steel Screw Pin Anchor Shackles:
These shackles are not of a high enough grade for use with G4 high test anchor chain. For example, it would take a 1/2" shackle of this grade to get an adequate SWL for 5/16" G4 chain. For safety, go with a G4 or higher rated shackle. Also, consider using a Safety Anchor Shackle design so you don't have to wire the pin. An example of a high quality safety shackle in 3/8" size would be something like CM's model M848AG (SWL 4,000). Difficult to find unless West Marine starts carrying them, but worth the effort for the peace of mind.
