Compact size, but every inch an Icom. Great features like AquaQuake™, which automatically clears the speaker of water. Favorite channel memory, for faster access to where you want to be. Class D DSC, so the radio constantly monitors DSC Channel 70, even if you are making another call. Force 5 Audio™ offers loud, crisp reception from the front-facing speaker that is easy to hear, even over engine or wind noise. Compatible with Icom’s new MA-500TR AIS transponder, so you can make an individual DSC call without having to input an MMSI number.

Comments about IC M412 Class D VHF Radio:
Installed this IC-M412 radio to the cabin ceiling in my Columbia 22 sailboat. Easily configured my MMSI number. Tied the NMEA0183 serial port 2 output from a Garmin 440 to the NMEA input of the radio; works right away. As soon as both are powered up, you see the time and position scrolling across the edge of the radio display. Scanning functions work flawlessly, for example, following CG comm channel changes in conversations with a stricken vessel. Tough case, great strain relief on microphone cable. A solid value.

Comments about IC M412 Class D VHF Radio:
Install is simple and straightforward. Radio reception/output works great even on low power. However, so far I have been unable to get the radio to accept data from my Nema compliant GPS/plotter. Have tried all data ports from GPS, even re-wired once just to be sure. So far even technical support from ICOM has not been able to give me a soluton/
