I really love these chairs. We spend many hours at barrel racing and rodeo events and really keeps the bench butt from setting in.
The downside is that after two uses the stitching around the carry straps and Velcro straps have started to separate. Heavier thread would be good or reinforced with something at that spot.
I will try and at least get them stitched back up.

This Chair is wonderful I Go to a lot of Rodeos for my kids and we r there from sun up til way past sun down and it helps when u can sit on something comfortable.
The only thing is I would have like to choose any onther color than BLUE.

Great seating for using in spectator stands at sporting events. I use them at youth rodeos and karate meets. I wish that the stitching that holds the Velcro straps and the plastic hardware for the backpack straps were more durable. I get asked time and time again where I got the chairs.

Overall I do love this chair. I have had it since Oct 2011. I use it on my 27 Catalina, it's like cruising in a lounge chair. Makes sitting at the helm even more enjoyable, better yet it's good to use on the beach or anywhere you need a chair. However, for the price it was not well made. The stitching is week and will not support the carry straps long and after some age some stitching is starting to undo in places. I am considering having it recovered with a more durable material and thread. If you treat this thing gently it should last you a long time.

Cannot say enough good things about this chair!! These chairs can be found in the bleachers of youth rodeos and barrel races across the state. Absolutely one of the best investments I've made in a while! We've used these chairs every weekend since we got them at Christmas and they still look and operate like new. They are easy to clean, really light weight, easy to transport and the detachable cup holder keeps my soda from being accidently dropkicked down the stands by an errant child or distracted parent. The thick padding in the seat keeps the cold from permeating into your rear-end and legs and the adjustable back rest helps to alleviate the back pain that is commonly associated with sitting on a hard bench.

Like with everything else there are a few cons... The stitching by the Velcro closure and backpack straps does seem a little flimsy but if it rips it's an easy fix. And they are a little bulky and hard to store in the horse trailer but since they weren't designed for that kind of use it's hard to really classify that as a con.

Bottom line is if you spend any amount of time "spectating" from a bench, bleachers, or risers you need one of these chairs!!! They run them on sale a couple times a year, but even if you have to pay full price for one it's worth it… Buy one, your back and tailbone will thank you!!!

We bought this in July 2012 because of the positive reviews here. It was used three times before the nylon stitching ripped and the back locking mechanism failed. It is extremely difficult to use and poorly constructed. If it worked and held up it would be very comfortable. But as it is, it was a huge waste of our hard-earned money. I love West Marine, but this shoddy chair is worthless.

You have to fold it out completely and than set the reclining angle. Just for those who had some difficulty adjusting it.

We bought 2 for our sailboat and no one can figure out how to operate the seat ! It only opens to a right angle with a strait back position that is not comfortable. Several people tried and no one yet can figure out how to get the supposed 4 other positions! The video that is offered with the simpler version is not helpful. Please add one specific to this product that shows how to operate the ratcheted hinge.
