We recommend these batteries without hesitation. They’re remarkably resistant to damage from deep discharges and extended storage. Maintenance-free and completely sealed, so they can be inverted without danger of acid spills or chlorine gas production, greatly increasing your installation options for hard-to-reach or unusually-configured locations. They can even be immersed without leaks, spills or other damage. Once charged, their low self-discharge rate allows the batteries to sit unattended an entire winter without significant power loss. Even when left discharged for 30 days, these SeaGels will still come up to 100% capacity, unlike conventional flooded batteries.
Extra-thick lead calcium plates won’t sulfate even when left discharged for 30 days. They’re capable of over 500 full discharges (over 1000 cycles for the 8GGC) in temperatures from –22° to +122°. Gel batteries charge at lower voltages than deep cycle or AGM, so smart regulation is advised. Chargers like the ProMariner Protech or Xantrex TrueCharge will properly charge gel batteries. Warranty: 18-month free replacement, five year pro-rata.
