2015 Flagship Varnish
Similar characteristics to the super-popular Captain's varnish, but it offers the highest UV protection available. It can be built up to many coats for a deep, mirror-like finish. Not for use below the waterline.

- Formulation: Traditional alkyd, 48% solids
- Additives: Highest UV protection available
- Application Method(s): Brush or spray (thin 20% for spraying)
- Drying Time: To touch: 2 hrs at 70°; overcoat: 18 hrs.
- Number of Coats Recommended: Previously varnished: 2 or 3 coats; bare wood: 3 or 4 coats or more
- Color: Light amber
- Finish: Gloss
- Coverage: Brush: 112 sq.ft/qt, 450 sq.ft/gal; Spray: 90 sq.ft/qt, 360 sq.ft/gal.

used this to refinish teak as well as varnish a new cedar companionway door i made. took to both surfaces extremely well and came out with a glossy thick appearance after 3-4 coats. i sanded lightly between coats with 220-grit. already gotten some compliments on the work!
make sure your surfaces are completely ready before you begin work, as this stuff will highlight not only beautiful grain but also deep sanding marks and imperfections

I've always used Flagship Varnish as my preferred coating for residential entrance doors and exterior woodwork. It has superior sheen and takes multiple coats with ease. Leaves a mirror like finish after only 3 coats and lasts for up to three years before more coats need to be added. I would never use anything else and I can't think of anything that isn't great about it. I recommend it to everyone.
