These shoes are a good combination of water wear and cross-trainer. They are a bit heavier than running shoes from New Balance, Nike, Addidas, etc, but they are rugged and have siphoned souls for a long day on the water. They do have a unique design feature; the tongue is connected to the inner soles by means of elastic strip about 1 1/2 inches wide on each side of the tongue. This makes putting them on a bit more difficult that the average sneaker. But if you don't like the bands, you can always cut them off. Overall, a well designed and comfortable shoe from Sperry.
Service and delivery comments:
Had this delivered to my local West Marine store. Delivery took about 5 days as they were shipped from the West Marine wearhouse in CA. It was fortunate that I used the FedEx tracking number, because the store did not call me upon delivery. Because I ordered it on-line and not through them, they were confused when they received the merchandise. It took them a bit of time to locate the shoes when I told them I was at the store to pick them up.

These are a far cry in comfort from the discontinued SB870 that Sperry made in Partnership with NB and frankly a dissapointment to me. I bought mine at West last year and just dont like them. The heels feel like they have solid plastic in them and not comfortable for standing long periods or all day wear. Fine for an hour or two out on the boat I guess. I have yet to find a decent boat shoe to replace the old Sperry SB870s. Meanwhile these collect dust. If this were from a different retailer I would return them.
