The 3/8th inch shock cord is used to supplement the dog's retractable reel and prevents the dog from snapping my back. The product can be used as a stand alone dog lead. The cord has been in use over three years, in and out of salt water, and exposed to sunlight with no visible deterioration while retaining stretch ability.
