Comments about Tall Cruising Boots:
I had signed up to crew for a friend and help move their boat from San Francisco to San Diego. The last thing I wanted was to be out on a multi-day sail and have wet deck shoes. I had waited, perhaps, just a little too long to shop for boots and wasn't able to a variety of different sailing shop, but West Marine is near my house. I wavered a bit on whether to get the short or tall boots. In the end, I opted for the tall ones with the rational I could also use them for washing my car and not worry about water from the hose splashing down the boots.
Another crew member on this trip also had WM boots, but had the short ones. In the end, I'm glad I went with the taller model.
I wish WM offered 1/2 sizes (from searching online, I know Gill offers 1/2 sizes), but having a little extra room wasn't too bothersome when taking the boots on and off, and I did wear them with a thicker sock a couple times.
I haven't used them on smaller boats so don't know if having a slightly longer footbed will impact me running to the foredeck. (It wasn't any problem during the six days sailing to San Diego.)
I've read reviews discussing durability; however, I haven't had these long enough to assess how long these will last.
The boots are a little on the heavy side, I think, but then, they are very reasonably priced, so I don't think I'll feel too bad if and when I need to get something more form fitting or something lighter for (future) racing. Regarding weight, I have a friend whose brand XXX boots are much lighter; however, he spend several hundred dollars for them. (As the saying goes, you make it strong, light or inexpensive ... but you can only choose two!)

Comments about Tall Cruising Boots:
Only reason I hesitate to give it five stars is because I haven't used them in real inclement weather, so they reamin untesed in that regard.

Comments about Tall Cruising Boots:
Great boot, made by Gill.
Wears like iron with good soles and high boot tops.
Great value.
Would buy again if they wear out or are "borrowed" by shipmates.

Comments about Tall Cruising Boots:
These boots arrived in the winter time during an ice storm with lots of freezing rain. I wore them almost all day. They provided good traction and kept my feet dry if not warm. I will keep a pair of wool boot scocks near at hand for cold weather.

Made by Gill for West Marine; great boot! I was concerned about getting a good fit buying online - no problem; I ordered my normal shoe size and these boots fit perfect with thick cold weather socks.

Comments about Tall Cruising Boots:
This is my second pair of this boot. Because there are many rainy days in Washington, and I race all year round, I need a reliable waterproof boot on the sailboat. This one is the right color and comfortable for moving around quickly on Edgewalker.

Comments about Tall Cruising Boots:
I use them fishing in fresh & salt water. They have good deck soles and also some tread for walking on other surfaces. Fit is right enough to allow heavier socks in colder weather for warmth. Good height keeps water out and allows foul weather pants to cover easily. Wish I had them years ago...
