We designed the Performance2 to be as close to our ideal anchor as possible. We improved on several aspects of the original designs by Bob Ogg and Richard Danforth. Independent test results confirm that the Performance2 anchor excels in a wide variety of conditions. The compact crown assembly provides low penetration-resistance and keeps the fluke angle at a precise 32°. It also features a rugged, die-stamped crown and shank engagement.
Characteristics we did not change include “T” section flukes for symmetry and strength, high-strength 4130 steel flukes, shank and crown and quality galvanizing that eliminates flakes or sharp spikes of zinc.
- Style: High-strength pivoting steel fluke
- Material: Galvanized high-tensile steel
- Application: Sand and mud
- Warranty: Five years
Recommended by Practical Sailor, February 2006. “...when handicapped by the challenging conditions of our short-scope test, only the West Marine Performance Anchor met the minimum holding power we’d want.”
