I use my I pad on my boat and just was leaning it on the center console. The I Pad holder was just what the doctor ordered. I purchased the Starport base separately, and it was so easy to unlock the holder and store it. It was pretty obvious that it needed the base when I bought it in the store. I also picked up the cup holder to put in the base when I wasnt using my I pad. Railblaza has some great products
