Comments about Spider Away Spider Repellent, 22 oz.:
I was really skeptical of this. Compared to other available spider/bug killers this was expensive. But I was reading the labels and fine print of the cheap, mainstream 'cides, and they all had a warning about not using near water as they are deadly for tiny marine life. Well, plannning to use them on my boat, right???
I had moved my boat to a marina, which, come late spring, early summer had more spiders -everywhere- than I had ever seen. If I was away for a week my boat looked like Dracula's Castle when I got back. I sort of trained them to leave me a path to my cockpit but they were all around me in their webs. Then even more of them were building webs down the centerline, all around the boom, vang, everywhere. Hosing down only stopped them for a day. The next night they were back. I knew I'd have to use poison, and that led to me to home & garden shops where the best bug poisons were sold. But then I read their labels.
I left and reluctantly went back to West and bought this: more expensive, smaller quantity, but not deadly to good little marine critters. I tried it. The moment I sprayed webs the spiders bolted. In a few days most were gone. In a week all were - and they didn't come back. I used all the spray and good as it was, thought I'd need more. Looking at the ingredients thought I could make it myself. I did, but it was not as good and cost me more, even before I factored in time & effort to locate ingredients & mix.
So this season I am buying this again. One bottle should be enough as I am using it early in the season. Repels the spiders, doesn't smell bad, no harm to contact with us, or our pets, and no damage to infant marine critters. What more can I say?
