This weather station and receiver kit is serious—Stanford scientists
have used them in Antarctic research stations and a network
of 12 of them constitutes the Meteorological Education Network
in Cataluña, Spain. The station itself features a windspeed and
direction anemometer, the rain collector is self-emptying and
accurate to 0.01". Temperature and humidity sensors sit comfortably
inside radiation shields to protect them from the sun. The
station itself is wholly self-sustaining thanks to solar panels. The
console display gives accurate data on a comprehensive LCD
readout. Quick view icons show the forecast at a glance—sunny,
partly sunny, cloudy, rainy or snowy—with up-to-the-minute
details. Amazingly, the station transmits its information up to 1000' to the console—that's three
football fields! If you want to deploy the station further from your console than that, a series of
