Description

Flexible, light and form-fitting, these tanks use a PVC bladder inside a tough, abrasion-resistant nylon outer "envelope." Maintenance is easy because the inner bladder can be removed for cleaning and inspection. The bladder is slightly oversized so pressure is exerted on its nylon shell, rather than on the heat-welded seams. 1 1/2" 90° fill and 1/2" straight outlet fittings ready to install.

  • Material: PVC/nylon
  • Port Sizes: 1-1/2" 90° fill, 1/2" straight outlet
  • Vent: No
  • Fitting Type: 90º hose barb, rotates 360°
  • Warranty: One year

      Comments about Flexible Water Tanks:

I bought two of these tanks to install in an offshore crusing yacht with the idea that they would be more versatile for fitting into odd-shaped compartments. I carpeted the compartments to minimise chafe but as it turns out they didn't last long enough for that to be an issue. Both tanks failed by splitting where the fill pipe meets the bladder on the very first use on passage from Bermuda to Grenada. The weather was terrible and they must have been sloshing around a fair bit but i'd expected them to at least last a month or two! Very unimpressed.

        Comments about Flexible Water Tanks:

I had the 13 gallon size on my 25 ft sailboat for 10 years. This year it developed a leak of which was a small hole in the bottom. I believe it was where a wrinkle developed into a crack/hole. I had used carpet pad under the bladder to keep from being punctured. This is an Arizona trailered boat so in the summer it is exposed to 115 degrees heat. I was otherwise impressed with the condition of the bladder, (besides the hole). Seams were all good and very little black inside the bladder, (one small area). I will be replacing with another Plastimo Flexible Water Tank, being sure tank is located on a smoother surface to prevent a wrinkle.

              Comments about Flexible Water Tanks:

We put two of the large tanks in our boat 5 years ago to replace aging aluminum tanks. They went in easily, and work great. Being flexible, they maximze the available space with out the expense of having custom tanks fabricated. As a unforseen bonus, they don't make sloshing noises in a seaway.

                    Comments about Flexible Water Tanks:

This French made tank has unique plastic fittings that are not standard American plumbing sizes, and are hard to fit to American marine plumbing. I have concerns about how this French made product will perform with an all American plumbing system, but will find out soon enough.
