These heads used to be simple & reliable. We had 5 years of absolutely no-maintenance use on the ones that came with our new boat, and we cruise 7 months/year. This year we rebuilt both heads. The replacement joker valves ($25.99 per at W. Marine) both failed within 5 weeks after installation. New O rings leaked in the same time. Other owners complain of same extremely short life of replacement joker valves -- see product comments posted on West Marine page for joker valve. Model # 269128 | Raritan Manuf. # C253.

Excellent head and good value for money. I've had one previously and just bought two for my new live aboard Ovni 435. If used heavily i suggest to keep an additional pump onboard so it can be quickly replaced. Then you keep a couple of spare kits and refit the worn out pump when convenient. That way you're always OK with a well working head at a very reasonable prize.
The packing from West Marine was poor however. When i started tearing the packing of, lots of little parts from the rest of the order was poring out uncontrollable.

Installation is a breeze and it gets the job done for a reasonable price. Have installed two of these in the last 5 years and both have performed perfectly. Will be installing another next month for a friend.
