BioGuard is specially formulated for hot, humid marine applications that breed bacteria and other bio-contamination. BioGuard is test proven to be up to 90% more effective than other typical biocides in as little as 2-3 hours versus 24 to 36 hours recommended by other biocides. BioGuard is designed to:
- Kill bacteria up to 90% faster
- Work in 2 - 4 hours vs. 36 hours for other products
- Break-up bacteria caused slime
- Prevent filter plugging
- Prevent bacteria caused corrosion
- Prevent bacteria from re-growing
- Be effective in ultra low sulfur diesel and biodiesel
- 16 oz. bottle treats 480 gallons

BioGuard works for me.
In response to the exising review indicating BioGuard does not work well because it drops to the bottom of the tank and does not mix with the fuel.Bacteria, algae, etc. that contaminates diesel fuel grows on the BOTTOM of the fuel tank NOT in the fuel. BioGuard is formulated to be non-fuel soluble so it DOES NOT mix with the fuel...it DROPS through the fuel to BOTTOM of the tank where the contamination is so that it IMMEDIATLY attacks the bacteria.Independant biological laboratory tests concluded BioGuard was up to 90% more effective and faster than BioBor JF and other fuel biocides tested. The study is available by contacting ValvTect Petroleum at 800-728-8258.Directions on product labels indicate:BioBor JF...allow 24 to 36 hours exposure".BioGuard..."Allow 3 hours"Although less expensive BioGuard works faster and is more effective."
I tried this because it is a little less expensive. I found it did not work well, and when I experimented by taking a fuel sample and pouring in the biocide, it sank to the bottom. Even after shaking, it still settled to the bottom eventually.
