Comments about Magma Catalina Infrared Grill:
We use this grill on the back of our express cruiser and it is by far the easiest to cook on grill I have ever used. The food cooks perfectly and the learning curve to cook well on it is much shorter than with other grills. Cleans up easily (for a grill) and is easy to store.
It can be a little hard to light in a breeze but once it is going we have never experienced a "flame out". Be sure to get the "infrared" grill, not the regular one. No flare ups and brain dead simple keeping the temps where you want them.

Comments about Magma Catalina Infrared Grill:
We tailgate at sporting events and cookout regularly on our boat. We have two Magma's. One regular (had a couple of years), one infrared (over a year). We are big fans, they are great quality, cook evenly and the infrared is a real treat...except in windy conditions. The infrared blows out, there is no way to know it, and when you click the lighter...it basically explodes from the accumulated propane gas. I think the problem is that the grates get a little clogged from food and it doesn't vent well. I'm used to it, and expect an afternoon on the back of the boat to result in 3-4 propane explosions an hour, but the wife has HAD it and the infrared will go to tailgate duty where there is less wind. If you use it in a low wind environment, it will be great for you. I have downgraded my rating as a result of my concern about safety. I have also brought this to the attention of the mfg, who was no help (I didn't ask for a refund or anything...I like the grill, just was looking for safety solutions). If you are a cooking enthusiast with a low wind environment or high tolerance for propane flame ups, this is well made and cooks great.

Comments about Magma Catalina Infrared Grill:
The extra cost for the infrared grill is worth it. The Infrared had just come out and were not in stock last year so I had to order it at my local West Marine Store [...]I use it for boating and keep the folding rod-holder (sold sep) stand always attached and fold it out the way for storage and home use. At home just fold down the attached legs and put on a tabletop. Great for cooking on the water with the easy latching lid. Gets very hot quickly so that you do not have to use much fuel. Cooking is on low in lite winds. Turn it up if it is really blowing. Tightly cooks 5 thick ribeyes at one time on the lower rack with corn and hotdogs on the top. I have now decided not to replace my large home grill because I use the Magma instead. Stainless is easy to clean and no rusting apart. Easy to store, small enough for the boat, and large enough for the home. Cooking for 6 people at one time is no problem. Also Great for throwing in the back of the truck and running from Hurricanes. I have had it for over a year now with no problems. You have to buy the optional parts to make it multi-fuel. Would buy this grill again.

Comments about Magma Catalina Infrared Grill:
Best grill I ever owned. Expensive, but it does work great. The large surface cooks quickly and evenly. Last week it easily fit 8 big burgers and 8 long dogs (and rolls as needed) at at the same time. Meat drippings burned instantly giving a nice added flavor. The carrying bag is well worth getting if you have to carry it any distance (and the bag is very well made).
