Spartite Mast Wedge Replacement System
Spartite is a mast wedge replacement system that properly supports the mast and seals the cavity between the mast and the partners. A one-piece custom-fitting mast chock is created by pouring liquid Spartite into the deck opening around the mast and allowing it to harden.
Once solid, Spartite provides even support around the mast section, absorbs shock loads and distributes rig loads evenly. The one-piece ring ensures proper mast placement at all times and virtually eliminates water leaks. It stays attached to the mast when the rig is out of the boat. Kit includes supplies needed to build a simple mold out of even the most complex partners.
Boats in the 36'-40' length range may require Kit 1 or Kit 2, depending on the amount of compound needed to fill in the gap. Once components are mixed, Spartite sets up within 15 minutes; fully cures in 2-3 days. Kits include everything necessary for installation.

Spartite worked more than 12 years on my 30 foot sailing boat without any problem. I decided to use it again after I took the mast down for maintenance. Easy to Apply and keep the water out reasonably well.

This is an excellennt product. I have fought leaks around the mast partner since buying this Pearson 31-II. Spartite seems to have finally stopped these leaks. It clearly gives better support for the mast than the wood wedges that it replaced. It does, however, require great care in its use. Sealing the base of the opening where the liquid will be poured should be done very carefully. The instructions warn you to use immediately after mixing the two parts. They are not kidding! It can only be poured for about a minute after mixing. And my best piece of advice. If you get a drip either on the deck or below don't attempt to wipe it up. You will just make a mess. Let the drip harden for a few hours and it will peel right off. If you try to wipe it up it smears and will be there for good. I know because I tried both methods.
