Comments about Odorlos Head Chemical:
We have tried various products, but this one is the best. There is a smell only on the first flushing; after that, no smell all weekend. Recommend new package added for every 3 days of usage.

Comments about Odorlos Head Chemical:
Been using Odorlos exclusively since installing a new tank 4 years ago. Directions say to start with clean tank, so I figured great time to try this product. Head gets used every weekend and 3 full weeks every summer. No odors in boat like before. Got news for an earlier reviewer, everyones stuff stinks when pumping out. It is sewage after all. The important point is it doesnt smell in the boat. Pump out about every 3 weeks.
Pros
- Convenient
- No smell
Cons
- None

Comments about Odorlos Head Chemical:
works as advertized, no smell. I have used this product for 4 plus years with no problems.
The holding tank must be well vented so if you have an ugly smell make sure your vent line is not plugged.

Comments about Odorlos Head Chemical:
In our boat and motorhome heads, we use the granulated version of Odorlos, which comes in a box of 10 sealed envelopes of 4 oz. each. Nothing to measure or splash. No large bottle to lug around. NEVER any odor!
We have used other "brand name" toilet chemicals, (liquid and granulated) but always ended up feeling like we needed to dump prematurely due to the odor build-up. Will continue to buy and recommend this product!
We have used Odorlos liquid for 20 months to treat two (2) 45-gallon blackwater holding tanks in constant use. The tanks are well ventilated. The attached toilets use fresh water to flush. In those 18 months, Odorlos has NEVER suppressed the odors, and the natural bacteria in the sewage has NOT SUCCEEDED in digesting the solids. At every bi-weekly pumpout, the treated sewage appears and smells completely untreated. We have given up on this product, and are switching to Bactain, a bioactive treatment.
After about 6 pumpouts I gave up, and went back to a formaldehyde product. Based on other reviews, maybe I am doing something wrong, or it is not suited to my equipment, but I have a half a box to give away, if anybody wants it.
As a full-time liveaboard in a warm climate, and in salt water, controlling holding tank odors can be very important. This product does a good job at controlling those odors within the boat. Two things to keep in mind: 1) Use only this product and nothing else, and continue to use it; and 2) it will take a couple of weeks before you notice any beneficial effects from the product (especially if you were using some other product before this).
I have been using Odorlos since I bought my 1999 SeaRay in it's SeaLand VacuFlush head system. The system remains clean and odor-free. Some say that the product is expensive, but I have been using the liquid and one large bottle lasts most of the season. I use a little more than the recommended amount and pump out the holding tank frequently. Someone else might be able to get more from a bottle of product, but a bit extravagant here is better than cheap.
I, of course, was skeptical. I've used nothing but deodorants since I started boating in my 55 ft houseboat. I thought I'd give this stuff a try, since it seemed to make sense, what with the oxidation to nitrogen and all. In fact, and much to my pleasure, it worked as advertised. My blackwater vent is on the starboard side, and , used to be, no one wanted to sit on that side if I had not recently pumped. Now there are no comments like OK, who flushed...?" I found myself a little behind the "odor ball" when a bunch of folks showed up for a long weekend, and it was HOT. As you all probanly know, heat only makes things worse. The tank was 3/4 full, and had been collecting for 2 weeks, and the day we came in, we could all detect just a bit of stink. Next ime, when I see all those folks pulling up, I'll add another shot of Odorless..."
