The Hawk is mounted on double tubed PVC Pipe... 3/4" Pushed into 1" PVC Pipe. As the dock rolls with the wake, the hawk sways from side to side and front to back. We have had no gull problems since.

Keeps most (but not all) smaller birds away from top of mast when hoisted on main halyard. Does not seem to have much effect on crows or other larger birds. Owls don't keep birds away because they hunt small animals and at night not [*] birds in the daytime - the problem I had to solve.
