I bought this clutch to backup a cleat on the wall holding my Snark sailboat above the cars in my garage (with blocks and 3/16 line). The clutch probably works fine, however the line size range given in West Marine's online description is incorrect -- the clutch actually holds lines 3/8 thru 7/16.
