Comments about Men's Ventura Jacket:
I have to admit that I was stunned to see that this jacket was being made in China. With Lloyd's storied history, this came as a shock. I can't imagine what they were thinking about to have made that move. "Profits" aren't a good enough answer. What I do know is that the modern Henri Lloyd is not the Henri Lloyd of twenty-years ago. I give this jacket an average rating because it really is "average"; albeit selling for a premium price.
The fit is not very good with the rigid collar. This jacket was clearly designed to have the collar strapped up all the time. I'm 6', 6", and this collar is over my ears and nose. This may be fine in a blizzard but the jacket's not insulated, nor built heavily enough for those kind of conditions. Furthermore, if you're sailing in tropical climes, you'll probably want to lay back the collar and the fleece inside-lining will always be getting wet.
I bought it for foul weather, and not for fashionable outings. I can't imagine the type of person that would feel fashionable in a raincoat. But as foul weather apparel goes, I can accomplish the same thing at half the cost with house-brand items (as I now know). If everything's being made in China, why spend more on name-brand products with the same quality as the cheaper brands? Buy a West Marine parka: they're probably made in the same plant, and will hold up just as long.
