Comments about Shipyard Tool Kit:
Understand that your expectations are unrealistic. The tool kit cost less then $80.00. What did you think you were purchasing… As a professional, I understood that a 133-piece tool kit, priced under $80.00 in a case, is what it is. This is an emergency kit to be used when you need it. When you're out on the water or in visiting port. This is not your primary tool source for working on you vessel.
My personal tools, I use to work on my vessels, cost more then $10,000.00… The set of tools performs tasks well, in a time of need. All of may personal tools including these sets I have onboard my vessels I store with a Hoffman industrial corrosion inhibitor. Theses are dry products that prevent corrosion, which we all have to expect on the water or in winter storage. We need to winterize our tools the same way we winterize our vessels.

Comments about Shipyard Tool Kit:
Brought on board my boat two years ago and holding up well. Used on a regular basis and stored inside cabin. Sprayed down with rust inhibitor before storing and have had no corrosion issues with the tools.About to buy my second one to keep in my RV. I don't recommend it being left outside for long periods of time. Any tool will rust in a marine environment if not taken care of.

Comments about Shipyard Tool Kit:
THe sockets are only deep enough for a few boat projects. It is very had to get some of the tools out of the case, and getting them out then loosens the cases grip on them in the future. The tools rust easily, which is very bad because the case is not water tight. I left the tool kit in the covered boat and it filled up with water just from the humnidity. My suggestions is that you put together your own tool kit based upon your needs, rather than waste money on a one-size-fits-none solution. ANd put the tools in a waterproof box.

Comments about Shipyard Tool Kit:
great tool kit to carry with you for general use repairs. Ratchet failed after several uses and wrenches and sockets tend to round nuts under preasure. That said, I replaced the ratchet whith a spare and use the kit often as it is very handy. Also good as a loaner tool for those who tend to borrow and break.

Comments about Shipyard Tool Kit:
I bought this for all purpose use on my boat. The one time I needed to use it to remove a stainless screw (holding anchor light to radar arch) the phillips head bits for the screw driver broke, 3 of them. just shattered, never seen anything like it. Couldnt remove an ordinary screw as the bits weren't strong enough. On a boat, you need reliable tools. avoid. West Marine is a great store, this product is beneath thier standards (or should be imo).
