Comments about Bio Solv Acetone Replacement:
I've been using this stuff for several years now after seeing it written up in Practical Sailor. I decided to try it because I have a septic system at my house, not town sewers, and am always worried about putting chemical solvents in it and potentially killing off the bacteria in the tank. This stuff is natural and degrades. I think it is made of lactic acid (what gives sourdough bread it's tangy flavor) and acetic acid (vinegar).
This stuff dissolves just about anything I've ever needed to get off me. Boat paint, Great Stuff foam, caulk, house paint, varnish, etc.
It has a very strong smell (a little bit stronger than paint thinner or mineral spirits) so I keep it in the garage, but that's the only drawback I've found to it.
I totally recommend trying this.!
