I picked up a cheaper version from West Marine, and that worked fine for everyday use and short trips. I picked up this version when I enrolled in a Coastal Navigation course. The dividers are very accurate and easy to use. I recommend paying a few extra bucks for this version. Worth the money!

Very nice set of dividers. By far the best and most accurate I have used. I'm taking a celestial navigation class so I have used a number of different dividers. These are by far the best I've used.

These dividers are extremely accurate and very well made. The thumb wheel makes for very easy one-hand operation, and they can be quickly made into a compass as well. Their construction allows them to hold the measured distance very accurately and for a nearly indefinite period. Over the past 10 years or so, I have used almost every brand and type of dividers available (even the specialty ones), and these are by far the best. Try these out and I'm sure, that like me, you will never use anything else.
