Comments about Pro Series Stainless Steel Windlasses:
First year using became noisy. Case halves not machined to mate. Filled with water, bearings and main shaft pitted. I repaired by removing pitted shaft and installing new bearings and seals. Two seasons later very noisy, replacing with different brand. STAY AWAY.!!!!

Comments about Pro Series Stainless Steel Windlasses:
The case halves are not gasketed, they are just glued together with gobs of white caulking. Same with the power wires where they enter the bottom of the case. Just gobs of caulking inside the case to seal the holes that the power wires pass through.
This is not a design that can withstand the elements in my opinion. Mine has failed numerous times within the warranty period due to case leaks and gear failures. Even though I have been very gentle with it, it continues to disappoint.
I am now replacing it even though it is stll under warranty.
I can't trust it and to me that's a safety issue.

Comments about Pro Series Stainless Steel Windlasses:
Great wench but there is no real seal, it leaks and fills with water which can then freeze, also the "stainless steel" is only the case once salt water gets inside the gears and motor bracket corrode. Also repair parts are hard to get as the mfg's parts suppliers dont respond to email, this is not Westmarine but the places that list the internal repair parts.

Comments about Pro Series Stainless Steel Windlasses:
After the first season I noticed a very large amperage draw, it was tripping the breaker quite often. I pulled the unit and inspected inside. I found considerable rust and corrosion. I was able to clean it up and reseal it but what about the user who can't...after on season? At the time I had a wife who was crazy about a clean boat. Good product, just keep an eye on it

Bought this a yr ago after back surgery. It has been a life saver. Anchoring is now a cinch and bringing it up is a breeze. Best investment I have made for my boat.

Comments about Pro Series Stainless Steel Windlasses:
As with any windlass this one requires some preventative maintenance. It's made of quality material and has more than enough anchor pulling power for my 31 foot boat.
