These reels are much stronger than you would imagine. They are suitable for light trolling and great for jigging on the reefs. The drag system seems capable of handling anything up into the 80-100lb range. We use (2) of them loaded with 25lb mono for snapper at night on the shallow reefs and we have had some good battles. For the price, the perform above their price point for us.
I also use the GTI-340 for grouper on custom 8ft rod and it has handled black grouper up to 34lbs using 80lb mono.

I use mine on a heavy action rod with 30lb mono and a 7/0 circle hook. bait it up, cast it out into the deep channel and stick it in the rod holder and wait. I intend to buy another one and then have two rigs out. Very fine reel, have had zero problems with it.
