This autopilot is a is a great design - married it up to an HLD 2000L drive unit which is Simrad-Robertson based. I made the installation harder than it should be - and the tech manual could have made life easier. Biggest issues: make sure the rudder rate alignment is correct - or the system will not recognize it. Commissioning was actually fun - but read the manual, the system will ask you questions that you have to be prepared to answer.
The interface between Simnet and my existing N2K backbone could have been clearer - not sure why N2K manufacturers write their manuals as if no other manufacturer exists. However Simrad's tech assistance was awesome - I wrote them a question, they responded that day. I called them with basically the same question to make sure I got it right and the tech assist answered the phone immediately(!) answered the question and gave me some other helpful advise.
