I have kayaked for years and have used stand up paddle boards but never owned one because they are usually so large, brittle and hard to transport. The Nalu is a great hybrid stand up kayak that tracks straight and fast but is maneuverable and very stable underfoot. It feels more stable than larger paddle boards I have used. I am six foot tall and weigh two hundred pounds and the Nalu felt very nimble yet stable. Overall I like the durability of the polyethylene and the option to use it as a kayak with a seat if you choose. I was very impressed with the paddling feel and good speed with minimal effort.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I learned to SUP with an old windsurf board and thought that I would later upgrade to a "real" SUP board but last week, at Catalina, I tried one of these and found that the added stability allowed me to SUP in bumpier places than I would've gone with a regular board. I was able to SUP along the coast, admiring the beautiful kelp beds. Despite the frequency of boat wake along the coast, I felt very safe and comfortable. I am buying one of these boards, today.
