With an advanced water-based formula, Pure Oceans Ablative Antifouling Paint’s innovative technology relies upon water and only a small amount of solvent to create an antifouling paint featuring easy application and cleanup with no heavy solvent smell. Made with Copper Composite Technology, it leaves a smaller environmental footprint and is 25%less intrusive compared to traditional copper biocides. As the paint wear away, fresh biocide is constantly exposed, which eliminates build up. The low odor formula exceeds the most stringent air pollution regulations and with unlimited dry time to launch, you can paint ahead of time in the fall or winter so your boat is ready to splash in the spring.

Comments about Pure Oceans Ablative Antifouling Paint:
My customer request we use West Marine Water-Based Ablative paint on his boat this year at the yard, I had no problem with using it as I have always had good experiences with West Marine products. Well the color was supposed to be black, Not the case. I had read the one review stating the color issue, and chose to ignore it. Opened up the paint and it was more purple than anything. But settling is to be expected. Stirred with a drill Powered stirrer, about 10-15 min. No different. Scraped the bottom on the can to free up any color pigment that had settled, Stirred again for 10-15 min. No different. Read the back of the can and took it to the local home improvement place and had them shake in their mechanical shaker, FOUR (4) times. brought it back to the yard, Stirred it another 10-15 min, NO DIFFERENCE! Had to use the paint due to a small time frame to complete the job on time and in budget, and used a different paint that was left over (that really was black) to do the water line so everything looked ok.

Comments about Pure Oceans Ablative Antifouling Paint:
Easy to apply with roller, easy clean up with water, March to December in the Chesapeake no growth with half dozen barnicals on spots where paint was rubbed off keel by mud in shallow channel. Preformed better than bottom paints used in past.

Merchant response: Thank you for contacting us through your review. We appreciate it and the extra time you’ve taken to discuss this with West Marine outside of the review forum. From both sides it sounds like it could be a blending problem, although we understand that you went to extreme measures to shake the paint thoroughly. We sincerely apologize for any dissatisfaction you felt with this product and will follow-up with you in person. The only other notes we’d like to make are that we would expect the true color to develop further with a couple weeks’ immersion in water and that this issue which you experienced with the color won’t affect the ablative performance of the paint.
