Comments about VHF680 Class D DSC VHF Radio, Black:
Purchased the radio because it is was a cheaper version of the Icom I should have and will buy now.
The wiring to the chart plotter is set up correct and when tested with another radio it works but with this radio it does not work.
I tested radio and confirmed that the Radio was not accepting GPS data from the chartplotter. I called west marine support number on listing above told to call uniden direct and given the wrong number by west marine. Called uniden and they told me it was my wiring and they had no idea what the problem was and was not interested in helping me. I said this was a known issue and that it was on this webpage and he said he didn't care. this is a junk radio and stay away spend the money and get an ICOM!
There is not a fix I will return for a refund today New Icom Is already on order.

Purchased the radio because it is exact replacement for a Uniden um525 which no longer works. The wiring to the chartplotter (Garmin 5212) is exactly the same but does not work. If there is not a fix I will return for a refund.

Comments about VHF680 Class D DSC VHF Radio, Black:
Had mine for just over a year now and have had no problems what so ever. The labels for connections to the GPS for networking is not clear but one 2 minute call to the support line and that was all it took. Use it almost every weekend rain or shine. Just wish I could Turn off the low battery alarm. If the engine is off it says there is low voltage.

Comments about VHF680 Class D DSC VHF Radio, Black:
Hooked up the NMEA 0183 line for GPS communication with a Garmin 5012 Chartplotter. It didn't work so I returned it for another one. Same hook up didn't work. Took both the units to a company to be tested and they confirmed that the Radio was not accepting GPS data from the chartplotter. They also confirmed that other radios worked. A DSC radio that does not communicate with a chartplotter is not worth having!
