Comments about 30Amp Dual Configuration Cord Sets:
After having the standard cord and my boat connector overheat (damaging both sides), I installed a Smartplug connector on my boat and now use a Smartplug 50' cord for shore power. The original cord/connector lasted two years, and I've been using the Smartplug system for three years now with ZERO issues. The plug on the cord side solidly engages with the boat connector and doesn't have any "play" in it, which is one of the weaknesses of the standard system. Additionally, there is more surface area on the connector fingers, making a better electrical connection. The opposite end of the Smartplug cord is the standard Marinco-type connection, universally supported in marinas.

Comments about 30Amp Dual Configuration Cord Sets:
After three years of reliable service, I noticed discoloration on my boatside inlet and decided it was time to replace it. I'd previously seen the SmartPlug system, but had no reason to change what was originally installed on my boat. This system is very solid, and while time will tell, it appears to be several steps ahead of the "old technology" power inlet and power cable.

Comments about 30Amp Dual Configuration Cord Sets:
At last I feel more secure about my shore power system. The Smart plug is more secure, no wiggle, no sparking, water resistant, easy to plug in. No "ring" to try to start while you are on your knees trying to get the plug in. It is the best thing to happen to shore power in years.
