The ultimate outboard for boaters on green lakes and sailors who prefer quiet electric propulsion: Torqeedo Cruise models are in a class of their own when it comes to power and efficiency. Due to the use of a highly efficient rare earth magnet torque motor, electronics and gear package, Torqeedo Cruise models deliver up to twice the range from the same battery supply compared to other popular electric motors. Comments about Cruise 4.0R (Remotely Steered) Outboard, Short Shaft:
I decided to purchase product because the bonus of not carrying gas on the dinghy was very appealing. Serious deliberation on spending the money for an electric engine. Took the cruiser to Florida to pick up product and loaded it up. Realized that the engine itself comes without battery. Went to local dealer and found out the battery is an additional $7,000.00.
Was never advertised that the cost of engine only gets you 1/3 the way there.
