The ultimate outboard for boaters on green lakes and sailors who prefer quiet electric propulsion: Torqeedo Cruise models are a class of their own when it comes to power and efficiency. Due to the use of a highly efficient rare earth magnet torque motor, electronics and gear package, Torqeedo Cruise models deliver up to twice the range from the same battery supply compared to other popular electric motors. Comments about Cruise 2.0 Tiller Steered Outboard, Long Shaft:
I'm using the Torqeedo to push a 1400 lb. trimaran (Argonauta 26). It's quality was evident just removing it from the box. Fit and finish is perfection. Installation was simple and results were beyond expectations. It moves the boat at 5 kts., at half throttle... that translates to 9+ hours of run time from two 105AH batteries at 24 volts. The motor mount is in the cockpit, so the pleasant buzz is much appreciated.
While about twice the price of a 4-stroke 6hp, I'll never buy gas, never clean a fuel system and expect never to run out of power, thanks to the readout showing energy remaining and solar panels. I'm delighted with my choice.
Service and delivery comments:
Getting anything shipped to the Virgin Islands is difficult. West Marine did it fast, hassle free and at a fair shipping cost.
