Premium 12V Receptacle and Plug
Designed to withstand the rigors of wet environments and constant motion. Receptacle has large contact surfaces and corrosion-resistant materials to ensure a solid contact and low voltage drop. Plug has a sealing ring around the shaft to keep out spray and to make it seat firmly in the outlet. Ground contacts engage the receptacle so the plug can't be removed without turning it 90°. Both components are compatible with existing plugs and receptacles.

This unit seems better built than the minimalist auto-store units for the trunk of my Ford Explorer. I added it to support an Engel refrigerator rated with a 10 amp fuse. I bought the jack and plug kit since the jack-only kit was out of stock at my local supplier. The plug is just insurance as the generic (but nice) Engel plug works fine in the Marinco jack. It doesn't have the special sealing threads, of course, but the two little recesses in the jack for the side grounding tabs is generous to accommodate variation in plug design.
Installation in the thin plastic side trim in my truck was easy because of a couple of Marinco features:
a) 1/4" spade terminal connections meant I could string the two wires through the mounting hole and connect them with the trim panel in place.
b) the skip-thread locking ring is quick to tighten in place through tight quarters.
As a side note, the rectangular facia plate simple mounts on the outside. It doesn't really add any strength to the mount, it is just for appearance. I did not use it for my installation.

I have been using these connectors for 15+ years with never a failure yet. If they are installed correctly they will last for many, many years.
