Comments about ProSport Battery Chargers:
The unit failed in 1.5 years in a covered and dry setting. The power light is difficult to see in daylight thus I have a hard time seeing if the unit is even on. I would not recomend this unit to a freind.

Comments about ProSport Battery Chargers:
Bought 12 Amp version (model 42012) one year ago. I recently found it was getting VERY hot (will burn your hand) when the batteries are fully charged, i.e., when it's supposed to be in trickle mode. The charger can't properly detect when a load is present (lights, radios, etc.) while the batteries are charging, and it will charge the batteries to 14.7 volts continually because of these loads. I have an isolation transformer and big, industrial metal oxide varistors for transient suppression, so I doubt "voltage spikes" are the cause of the failure. I pulled the plug so it wouldn't burn my boat. The chargers also wipe out the entire HF band making SSB unusable.

Comments about ProSport Battery Chargers:
3rd one dead after 2.5 years after light use. 1 back left uncharged and no indication from the charger that it has failed. Will have to get a different make from now on even if it means redoing the charger mounting.

Comments about ProSport Battery Chargers:
Did not charge my two batteries and the indicator lights fluctuated between just blue, and blue and green (same problems described in other reviews), even though the batteries were down. I returned it for a Guest 2 bank model, and the Guest works fine. I should have read the reviews first!

Comments about ProSport Battery Chargers:
I have gone through 2 of these on my 2008 CC. The boat has 49 hours on it...and the second pro mariner 12 has died March 2012 . I can't see me buying one every other year at over $100 - I can't be the only one this happens to ? Now if it had a 3 year warranty.....

Comments about ProSport Battery Chargers:
I use the ProSport6 to supplement my solar powered Ham Radio station. Have large AGM batteries. The charger keeps batteries up as needed. I have to turn the charger off when I'm operating HF. (4 Mhz)I'm going to try ferrite filters on all the leads to see if I can improve the noise problem.

Comments about ProSport Battery Chargers:
My second ProSport 20 (one under a different house brand name) just failed. Won't give a power on light or charge (same for the first one). The first time my money was refunded by the store, now will see soon how ProSport will handle their warrenty. Not sure what is killing them, possibly voltage spikes. These are the only waterproof chargers with the dual bank features I can find. They worked really well until they gave up. In both cases the failure took both batteries out (one pair flooded, the other pair AGM).
