I like shorts that do NOT come down to or below the knees. Wearing that type of shorts make one look like they could not find shorts that fit. I like to look stylish and properly dressed day or night. West Marine is the only place that I have been able to consistently find shorts "Weekender" style that meet my requirements. I have purchased them from West Marine for the last three years.

I have these in sand and chambray, and wear them ALL summer long, every summer. They stop above the knee, which I like (most shorts which are really "mids"). I wear the sand for dressy casual events until too stained to wash out (but continue to wear for everything else). I don't remember any falling apart, but over the years I have outgrown or lost a couple.
