Comments about Kevlar Sail Repair Tape:
Trying to hold together a Technora/carbon mainsail for one more season. Did an almost ok job on small areas. But we patched over a chafed section on both sides (admittedly near the clew) and the whole thing split in the middle of a race as the adhesive failed in sheer. This stuff is not nearly as good as the heavy duty woven Kevlar that our sailmaker sometimes gives us.
Also, the product does not match the catalog photo. It's clear (rather than smoke) mylar with Kevlar threads in about 1/8 inch square weave, no bias threads.
Pros
- Easy To Install
- Easy To Use
- Quality Construction
Cons
Best Uses
- Sailing
- Small Boats
Comments about Kevlar Sail Repair Tape:
don't buy it because you need chafe protection for a black/dark dacron sail. google "adhesive black dacron" for alternatives instead. rather, this stuff is meant for clear mylar sails, like on the Weta trimaran or many windsurfers. think of it as clear duct tape with embedded kevlar strands.
