Comments about 24 Gal. Boston Whaler Fuel Tank (EPA 2011 Compliant):
Recently searched for ethynol compliant tank to replaced failed 27 Gal.tank. Purchased from West Marine. Stamped "22 gallons" in the plastic on top of tank. Hooked up easily, tank is very sturdy but fuel gauge in filler cap is very sad, inaccurate.
Pros
- Fits well but takes care
Cons
- Lacks tunnel for gas hose
- Requires lifting off deck
Best Uses
- Special for Montauks
Comments about 24 Gal. Boston Whaler Fuel Tank (EPA 2011 Compliant):
The design is good, but not perfect. It takes some fitting, and some arrangements for channelling the fuel hose down to the tunnel in the Whaler hull under the floor that goes back to the engine. I would have preferred the maker to mold a tunnel under the bottom of the tank going fore and aft for the gas line. Furthermore, the tank must be lifted off the floor, and I used the old rubber mats that were already in place from prior twin 12-gallon galvanized tanks that had been there before. Also, one must figure out how to strap the fuel tank into place so that it does not move around. It took me an afternoon to get it all worked out. But I am not aware of any better product, and I am generally satisfied.
