On 5/25/12 I purchased a WM 11161031 inflatable boat cover. It was installed on my WM HP 310 dinghy which is kept out of the water in Bristol, RI. After about two months, the sections of the cover that contact the 'rubber cones' at the end of the pontoons wore through. I purchased a boat cover patch kit and repaired the damaged areas and thought that would be the end of my problems with the cover.

This year, after about a month of use, one side of the cover that contacts one rowlock wore through. I patched the cover again. Unfortunately, when reinstalling the repaired cover, another part of it, which doesn't contact anything, ripped apart.

There are two other recent reviews on the WM website citing similar problems with product durability. My cover needs replacement but I can't really see purchasing an identical one. The material is used for this cover is not suitable for the application. While the product fits well and is easy to use, it is not worthy of being sold by West Marine.

I purchased this product to cover a West Marine RIB Dinghy, which I store on deck. It ripped apart after a couple of months. Not good for outside use, probably okay for indoor storage to keep dust off.

Sun Killed It in 7 Months. Cover Is Junk

      Comments about Inflatable Boat Covers:

I bought my Avon RIB in October 2015. I bought this cover shortly after. It is stored covered outside in Dry Storage in San Pedro when not being used. I have noticed that the fabric has been fading, particularly on the bow, and yesterday, when I went to put the cover on, the fabric fell apart in that area. It feels super thin to the touch and tore like paper when positioning it over the nose of my RIB. Unfortunately I paid cash for the cover and I am having trouble finding the receipt. I called customer care, and although Westmarine can see the purchase of the numbering kit and other items I bought for the boat after I purchased it to establish a date (using my WM advantage membership), and the cover has the westmarine part number tag on it, the customer support person said I could not get a replacement for it or return it for a better model. My wife is still looking for the receipt. Regardless, be advised that unless your boat is stored out of the sun, be prepared to have the sun cook this cover in about 6 months. Waste of money in my opinion. And KEEP your receipt!

Very disappointed in my boat cover. Super light weight, see through, would be shocked if it makes it one year. This is really not what should be marketed as a boat cover. This is a waste of money.

Bought cover for 10-ft RIB, stored on top deck of trawler. Didn't last a year, but West Marine replaced it. New cover was better, but lasted only 18 months, despite coating with 303 Aerospace Protectant. Basically disintegrated with sun exposure. Too thin.

                Comments about Inflatable Boat Covers:

Good cover for storing your inflatable, but not for traveling. Used it to cover my inflatable on the back of a Freedom lift and even strapped down, the back still comes off and water gets in everywhere. Good inexpensive cover, but if you need it to travel, get a higher quality one.

I am happy that it did last for the extended trip though, which is what I needed it to do.

                    Comments about Inflatable Boat Covers:

So far this cover as withstood some pretty heavy rain. I would recommend some sort of support to raise the middle up to help shed water. The best way I have found to put the cover on is by pulling our inflatable up onto the dock. The straps wrap around underneath and this has been easier to do on the dock rather than trying to do it while still in the water. The straps are very long and this helps when pulling them under the boat, don't trim them like I almost did. It is extremely light weight and folds up into a tidy little package in the mesh bag which is included.

Hard to install unless tender is kept on the hard... It would be ideal but not allowed in the confines of my slip at the marina. An alternate design to shed rainwater but not require over the waterline fit would be fantastic. It's a great cover for the price and works well...
