      Comments about Spreader Boots:

After a couple years these just disintegrate. You will be picking up pieces of the rubber from all over your deck.

Even though they are clearly too small for the shrouds on my boat, this is what riggers have always wanted to use. But there must be something better than this for use by cruising sailboats.

      Comments about Spreader Boots:

Bought more than I needed because it is not advised that it is sold in pairs. It is rubber made, so it sitcks to the genoa while tacking. Use a lot of tape otherwise it will be ripped of very quickly. Didn't fit well the lower spreader because it has two wires.

        Comments about Spreader Boots:

The top and bottom on the large boots are designed to fit only one shroud. On my boat, I have two shrouds running through the spreader where I installed the boot. The top and bottom parts that fit over the shrouds do not fit smoothly as they seem to be designed for a single stay.

          Comments about Spreader Boots:

Nice looking but material not hard and slippery enough for the purpose, and therefore only lasts a season or two. Will try to put spreader tape on the outside first this time.

                Comments about Spreader Boots:

I bought 2 sets of these spreader boots last spring for my J29. The first race we sailed with them we noticed the genoa was difficult to tack.
It was immediately apparent it was because the spreader boots were TOO soft and "sticky" not allowing the genoa to slide smoothly past. I sprayed them with McLube sailcoat and this helped until the Mclube wore off. At the end of the season these spreader boots were completely trashed. My previous spreader boots were "Taylor Made" and lasted 4 seasons with no problems.
