We use 4 of these chairs on our 1968 35ft Chris Craft Commander on Lake Michigan. The design is classy and because they are free standing they provide flexible seating on the deck. They are comfortable and very easy to maintain. I purchased 2 more for my son's boat as a Christmas gift.

We got three chairs in 2009 for back deck chairs. They get a lot of sun and weather. By 2010 more duct tape than vinyl was on the chairs. The cushions now look destroyed and I have had an oppertunity to inspect most of the foam under the vinyl and it is begining to deteriate as well. The frames are amazingly strong and durable. I will re upholster with more durable cushions and should have new chairs soon. West should look into offering a re-apholster kit for these chairs the stainless tube frame is first class and the vinyl cushions are less durable. I think the frame could survive 3 or 4 re-fit and if you could get the arm, back and seat cushion for $40 everyone would be happy.
One last problem because the frame construction is so heavy this chair does not store well it folds up some what but still takes up a lot of space when folded. bottom line why build a chair that has a great frame that cost a fortune to manufacture and put garbage cushions on it? I have been hard on my chairs, setting on the boat, but then they are Marine boat chairs and if the cushions were top quality they would last an easy 10 years.

Comments about Kingfish II Folding Deck Chair:

These chairs are heavy, which is good in a sea, kind of bulky, so take up a fair amount of room, and very comfortable. Chief complaint? Like every chair I've purchased from West Marine (6, as of this writing) the bolts work loose, or tear through the aluminum frames. I've rebolted my 4 Captain's chairs completely (not this product, the canvas ones). I'm rebolting these one by one as they come loose. No aluminum tearing on these yet, but the bolts work loose. West really should demand that it's suppliers use Loctite, or good locknuts on their products.

Comments about Kingfish II Folding Deck Chair:

Our old deck chairs suffered from waterlogged seats & unremovable mildew under the vinyl fabric. The wood structures were waterlogged & soft. These newly designed chairs with molded plastic seat, back and arm supports are unaffected by moisture. They should last indefinitely if covered between uses. The aluminum frames are sturdy, lightweight and attractive. The curved seat and back are extremely comfortable. GREAT VALUE-- We replaced these chairs for half the cost of reupholstering!

The is the second deck chair I have purchased. Good sound construction, very stable footprint. Have not experienced any corrosion problems as detailed in another review. Due to size, the chair needs large deck space.
