“There’s about 170,000 registered boaters in Oregon and several hundred thousand more non-motorized boaters in the state. ‘Cruising for a Cause’ is one of many ways West Marine gives back to the marine community,” commented Chris Kluever, West Marine’s Portland location General Manager. “Cruising for a Cause is, without a doubt, the biggest and most important fundraiser of its type in the Portland-area. It’s not only a fundraiser but it’s really a celebration of all-things-boating...it’s lining up to be one heck of an event.”

“Cruising for a Cause” charity night will take place on Thursday evening, July 18 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at West Marine’s new Portland store located at 12050 N. Parker Avenue, in the newly renovated Jantzen Beach Center, Several local boating-related non-profit charities stand to benefit from this evening of fun that begins with a ribbon-cutting by Portland’s Mayor, Charlie Hales. This is the first charity event of its type in Portland.
