Already BOTE's most popular shape, the HD now has another reason to nominate it for legendary status. Gatorshell. Yes, this proprietary technology is truly special. (More about that below.) A lot of boards claim to "do it all," but few really deliver on that promise. That's where BOTE's Gatorshell HD Stand-Up Paddleboard stands out. This one board is ready for literally anything and everything you would want to use your SUP for: fishing, touring, fitness, surfing, even racing.

Fishing: Let's face it, fishing takes gear. The HD comes with a host of features that make it ready to deck out with everything you'll need for day-long fishing trips. You'll have places to attach tackle, a bait tank, rod holders and more.

Touring: If touring is what floats your boat, the HD will comfortably transport a combined weight from you and your cargo of up to 290 pounds. That means you can take a cooler, a hammock and enough gear with you for extended adventures.

Fitness: Just want to get in some cardio? The HD is designed to paddle effortlessly so you can concentrate on maintaining your maximum heart rate throughout your workout. And should your fitness routine include yoga, the 30" deck provides a sturdy platform for your poses.

Surfing: Recreational surfers will appreciate the hybrid surf-style hull that lets you drop in at the local surf break with the performance of a longboard. Only the HD has a grippy deck that doesn't need to be waxed to keep you standing upright.

Racing: Thinking about racing? Don't. That is unless you're ready to get hooked on this competitive yet fun sport! The HD features a displacement hull and a "V" nose so it slices through the water for a faster ride.

Gatorshell

Found exclusively on the toughest boards that BOTE makes, Gatorshell technology creates an advanced plastics board that still retains the look and feel of the classic construction they are known for producing. Part of the challenge BOTE faced in building these boards from advanced plastics was eliminating unsightly seams when fusing the upper and lower halves of the board together. They solved this by combining all new materials with ballistics grade composites. The result is a seamless outer shell that is not only smooth, solid and beautiful, it's also incredibly tough. In fact, according to impact comparisons, these Gatorshell boards are six times tougher than their already durable, handcrafted epoxy boards. That, in itself, should move you to hit the red Add To Cart button above, but wait, there's more. Being less dense than epoxy, Gatorshell boards are more buoyant than epoxy boards. They'll float higher in the water, which means they're more comfortable to paddle and their capacity is increased. Gatorshell is also abrasion resistant so your beautiful board will also be more forgiving if the environment around you isn't. Finally, the advanced plastics BOTE uses to build Gatorshell SUPs are made from partially reclaimed material. Plus, any excess material from construction is repurposed.

Hull

The Hybrid-Displacement (shortened in the name to "HD") hull features a Gatorshell outer shell with exotic wood inlays and an expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam core. The HD is a hybrid between a recreational surf hull and a displacement touring hull with a "V" nose entry that easily tackles both flat water and surf. At 35 pounds unladen, the HD is light enough to transport and carry wherever your waterlife leads you.

Deck

The wide 30" deck provides excellent stability for aggressive paddling or early morning cruising, plus casting, fighting and landing trophy fish if that's what you're after. It's also here on the deck that the HD leaves other SUPs behind.

Built-In Features

Starting at the bow, there's an integrated bungee strapping system that keeps your dry bag (sold separately) and other essentials on your board and above the water. This area is also raised slightly to help shed water.

As you make your way onto the recessed deck you'll find it covered with Gatorskin, a high-quality, heat-sealed, multi-textured embossed deck pad you'll only find on Gatorshell boards. This texture not only provides incredible grip and comfort, but it eliminates water absorption, making the board lighter and faster than traditional deck pads.

Next up is a feature you'll wonder how you ever did without—the Stashpod. Watertight storage, an integrated bottle opener and a place to keep your favorite beverage from tipping over makes the Stashpod a popular amenity.

Then there's ConnexSUP, a universal mount that functions as an interface between the deck and an ever expanding number of mountable accessories.

You'll find the centrally located grab handle has been designed to ensure your fingers won't go numb and you'll have plenty of leverage to carry your board to the water.

Integrated latch points in the rail of the board are part of BOTE's Travelink™ SUP Carry System. By simply clicking in the Travelink™ Sling (sold separately) to the latch points, you can remove all weight from your hands and carry the board more safely and ergonomically with your shoulders and back. The best part is it's permanently flush mounted into the rails—when you aren’t using it, you won't notice it. There is zero effect on the paddling dynamics. The Travelink™ latch points can also be used to lock and secure your board.

Cooler tiedowns are added that feature a swivel action to allow the strap angle to adjust for optimum pressure distribution (you don't want your cooler [sold separately] floating off full of your favorite beverages).

Next, receivers for BOTE's unique Tackle Rac (sold separately) that can turn your HD into a fishing skiff are positioned so you have even more places to mount accessories you can't live without. These receivers also accommodate the Bucket Rac, a smaller version of the Tackle Rac that wraps around a standard five-gallon bucket.

Another bungee tiedown is found at the rear deck pad for even more storage options.

A Gore-Tex® Vent Plug keeps the inside of the board (the core) an air/water tight environment. It vents the board automatically so air bubbles don't get trapped between the foam core and the Gatorshell and cause de-lamination.

And finally the all-important leash attachment point at the tail so you won't be separated from your HD for long.

Underneath is an included stabilizer fin (and slots for 2 optional side fins) that helps your board track straight on flat water excursions.

Volume

When deciding on an SUP, you'll want to choose a board with adequate volume. This can be the difference between gliding smoothly across the surface or spending your time fighting that very real sinking feeling! With its Hybrid-Displacement V-hull, 30" wide beam and 4 1/2" depth, adequate volume isn't a problem for the HD. You'll find this board will float you and your gear (up to a combined weight of 290 pounds) with plenty of flotation to spare.
