If you're out on the water all day fishing without a neck gaiter...

Youuuuu might be the punch line to a joke.

We've all been there. You're wearing the latest Columbia PFG Solar Shade™ clothing. You're wearing a hat. It feels like every inch of your skin is either covered with high UPF fabric or that greasy sunscreen you need to reapply every...oh...every two hours. And even more often if you get wet. Oops. It doesn't even have to be sunny. Up to 80% of the sun's UV rays can pass through clouds. If you were wearing a Columbia PFG Deflector™ Neck Gaiter, you not only wouldn't have a neck that looks like a spring breaker from the snow belt a day after hitting the beach in Florida, you'd actually feel measurably cooler. This gaiter isn't just a piece of fabric that covers your neck, ears, face or head. It features four technologies (described in more detail below) to help you stay comfortable and protected on your next epic fishing trip. What fishing trip isn't epic? And as part of Columbia's Performance Fishing Gear (PFG) collection, you know you're getting a gaiter that has some serious fishing props. 89% polyester/11% Elastane. Imported.

Omni-Shade™ Sun Deflector

This technology separates this gaiter from all the rest. Previously, high ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) gaiters were good at blocking UVA and UVB rays (the ones that cause premature skin aging and wrinkling and burning of the superficial layers of your skin), but not as good at keeping you cool. With Omni-Shade Sun Deflector, that all changes. Hundreds of tiny, mirror-like dots coated with titanium dioxide (a mineral used as a sunscreen ingredient in cosmetics to protect skin from UVA and UVB radiation) are applied to the outside of the gaiter to actually deflect sunlight away from your neck. So those harmful rays are scattered harmlessly in all directions, ensuring less of the sun's energy is absorbed. The Omni-Shade Sun Deflector fabric is also breathable and wicks away sweat so you feel cooler while staying protected.

Omni-Shade™ UPF 50+

The tightly woven fabric in this gaiter provides a UPF rating of 50+. That means less than 1/50th of the UV radiation it encounters is allowed to pass through to your skin. Kind of like high SPF sunscreen. But unlike the previously mentioned sunscreen, you don't have the mess and hassle of constantly having to reapply it (or trying to remember to). This gaiter's Omni-Shade fabric even carries The Skin Cancer Foundation's Seal of Recommendation which is given to products meeting their standards for sun protection.

Omni-Freeze ZERO™

Sweat-activated super cooling you have to feel to believe. This technology features blue rings that react with your sweat to actually lower the temperature of the material of the gaiter. Really. That's like sticking your gaiter in the freezer when it gets wet and then putting it back on after it gets cold. (Without taking it off and putting it back on, of course.) So your neck won't just feel cool, it will actually feel cooler.

Found in Columbia's baselayer, activewear and next-to-skin clothing like the PFG Deflector Neck Gaiter, this moisture-management system pulls moisture (sweat from heat and exertion) away from your skin to keep you cool. Excess moisture is brought to the outer layer of the fabric where it can quickly and easily evaporate, leaving you dry and comfortable no matter how long it's been since you wet a line or stayed out in the sun all day.
