These winches, like all winches, rely on the pawls to engage and prevent the drum from rotating counter-clockwise. If the edges of the pawls have worn or the springs have sprung, the engagement is slowed possibly damaging the drum. Keep your winch going strong into the future by replacing worn pawls and springs. There is a complete kit with pawls and springs that is ideal to rebuild a winch or have as a set of spares. Pawls and springs are also available separately to rebuild multiple winches.
